Jaye Starkes, born Johnnie Cropps, spent his early and adolescent years growing up in Philadelphia, Pa. His mother then relocated, along with his two other siblings to Augusta, Georgia where she would raise them as a single mother. Although Jaye had always wanted to act he did not actively pursue it until attending college. Originally studying Psychology as a major; he then decided to take time away from school to decide what he really wanted to do for a career. He returned shortly, officially changing his major to Theatre in 2011. He received his first stage experience at Augusta State University's play festival that very same year. He was then cast into another play festival at Le Chat Noir's "Quickies." He also landed a role in the major play production "Who Shot Jr.?" at Augusta, Georgia's IMPERIAL THEATRE. Jaye has done several school based performance at Augusta State University's including their production of Euripides' "Women of Troy" & "Julius Caesar." Mr. Starkes joined a local Augusta area acting company, BLUE BISTRO THEATER COMPANY and has had the pleasure of taking the stage on numerous occasions at LE CHAT NOIR; there he performs dramatic, sketch based and improvisational acts. Mr. Starkes has also written and directed two original works, his first short film titled "DESOLATION" was accepted into Augusta, Georgia's POISON PEACH FESTIVAL in 2012. He has wrote and directed his first One Act Play titled "SHADOWS" which was a participant in ASU's play festival in 2012. He hopes to continue to grow as an ACTOR, DIRECTOR & WRITER.
